How much should a website cost?
Imagine hiring an employee that is willing to work 24 hours a day, 7 days week, 365 days out of the year, all for only one month’s salary! If this sounds like something you’d like to explore, read on!
I am often asked, “How much will it cost to make a website for me or my company?” I’ve found that there is actually a much better approach to this question.
What if, instead, we thought about “How much is a new website worth? What if paying one month’s salary for a website could generate over a year’s worth of income for my company?”
Think about it for a minute: how much would you be willing to pay someone that never sleeps, never leaves your store, and is always available to potential customers?
That highly sought after employee is your new website.
Or maybe you’re thinking, “sure, that sounds great, but I do not sell products; therefore, I do not need an online store.”
Just because you do not have a physical product to sell, your website can still convert casual browsers into new customers. Let your website sell your service by providing before and after pictures or testimonials from other clients.
You can gain consumer confidence in buying products or hiring your company if your website displays modern design, loads quickly, is mobile-friendly, and is easy to navigate. The way websites were designed in the 1990s and early 2000s was essentially an online business card or brochure. If your website still shows this mentality, the consumer may assume your business is outdated.
With the rise of mobile devices and Google’s recent changes to it’s search engine algorithm, your website needs to feature a responsive, mobile-friendly design and be clear about what it is you offer.
Time.com states that on average you have less than 15 seconds to get the average readers attention.
