3 steps for taking better Instagram pictures
Instagram is one of the fastest growing social media platforms. Here are 3 helpful tips for making the most of your account.
1. Adjust the brightness of your iPhone screen.
This may seem like a simple step, but it’s actually very important to prevent you from over adjusting exposure, brightness and contrast when editing your pictures. I suggest adjusting your phone brightness to 100%. This way when you apply filters and adjustments later, you don’t over compensate to make up for your screen being dark.
2. Select your focus point.
Whether taking pictures with the Instagram app or just on your phone, remember to click the screen to select your focus area. This can be helpful for making sure your subject is in focus and can lead to more professional looking images. This can be fun to play with and can lead to some interesting results once you get comfortable with it.
3. Caption and tag appropriately.
You might be thinking, “wait a minute, this has nothing to do with taking a good picture?” You’re right; however, what is the benefit of having an amazing picture if you don’t have anyone to share it with? If you’re looking to grow your social media following, remember to use appropriate hashtags so that new followers can discover your images. You’d be surprised how often this is overlooked and how successful it can be.
